摘 要在我国,传统的教育模式使中学英语课堂成为应试教育的一种手段。然而,传统的教学方式已不能适应时代的发展。在新课改的背景下,小组教学模式应运而生。新课改提出了以学生为中心,以教师为主导的新的教学理念。教师通过设定不同的任务和目标,鼓励学生积极参与,从而提高学生的学习效率。本文简要阐述了小组合作的定义、内容和特点,分析了我国目前中学英语课堂小组教学的现状和成因,同时对于如何开展有效的小组活动提出了一些看法和建议。希望这篇文章能够有助于对小组活动的系统理解和成功开展。32143

Abstract In China, traditional teaching mode makes middle school English class become a method of exam-oriented education. Since traditional teaching method has not adopt to the demand of epoch development, at the request of the new curriculum reform background, the classroom group mode emerge at a historic moment. New curriculum reform puts forward the new teaching idea of student-centered and teacher-instructed. Teacher encourages students actively to join in activity by setting different tasks and goals. Students’ learning efficiency can be improved. This article briefly expounds group work’s definition, content and characteristic. And it tries to analyze middle school English classroom’s current situation and factor in China. Meanwhile, it also put forward some ideas and advise on how to implement effective group activity. Hopefully this paper can be conducive to the systematic understanding of group activity and successful development of group activity.

I. Introduction
 For the past few years, due to the promulgation of the New Curriculum Standard by the Ministry of Education of China, education reform of middle schools has been being carried out step by step(Zhang Dan). The innovation of teaching methods is gradually going in depth. Nowadays, many English teachers in middle schools are gradually changing their traditional teaching methods form traditional knowledge-based teaching to task-based teaching of cultivating students’ ability of using the language.
 Language learning refers to the understanding ability of using the language, including five aspects: learning strategies, language skills, language knowledge, learners’ attitude towards learning and cultural awareness(Jill 17). It’s known that English education is a requisite part of modern education. With the development of the New English Curriculum Standards of China, to cultivate student’s integrated language ability and skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing by means of classroom group mode has become one of the significant aims in present education. Cultivating students’ speaking and listening abilities would become more important among the four basic language skills. It’s also necessary and significative in English instruction of the middle school.
