This paper mainly traction core CRH5 EMU AC - DC - AC traction drive for the study, describes the main circuit CRH5 EMU design and characteristics of the inverter, respectively, each unit traction drive: Four-quadrant pulse rectifier, traction inverter and a brake chopper works in detail by analyzing traction inverter main power device parameter calculation and selection, DC link capacitor support structure calculations and system Dynamic resistance calculation. Analysis of the variable voltage variable frequency control method of speed control used in the process, as well as regenerative braking and dynamic braking the train braking method used.
